Adhesive for applying paper to canvas?

I'm looking for a good permanent waterproof adhesive to use to apply paper to a cotton canvas. I tried using a gluestick but it didn't work. What should I use? I was looking at getting a Krylon adhesive spray, would that work? Thanks
