Can I be sued for magazines I never got?

My mother gets a call yesterday telling her that I was mentioned in a cl action lawsuit (my mom understood it to be that I was getting money) so I called them is morning with the information she gave me, they proceeded to tell me that I was the one being sued!! For $1900 for some stupid magazines I never got or even remember signing up for in 2002, they had my ss number and old address, the funny thing is they also had my ex husbands name, and we have been divorced for many years now. The address they had showing that I living there with my husband and we never lived at that address together?? Anyway they said then that they have a tape recording of me ordering this stuff??? The lady who was very nice told me that I could pay the settlement amount of $600 or go to court I asked her for proof of this before I paid anything she asked could she fax me something I gave her the fax number at work and still NOTHING! Can I be sued for this? The company is Consolidated Readers Institute.
