Half Life 2 DM and FarCry 2 so slow at downloading in steam!!HELP!!?

i have a dell inspiron 1521 and have recently updated to windows 7 ultimate. I think i run on LAN, the problem is I've logged into steam and have begun to download my games HL2DM,and Far Cry 2, but each download like up to 90-110kb/second. why is it so slow? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS!!!! 10 points to best answer
